Veeam Cloud Backup Immutability
What is Immutability ? Immutability is a term derived from object-orientated programming relating to objects. An immutable object (unchangeable object) is an object whose state cannot be modified after it is created as opposed to a mutable object which can be modified after creation.
Silicon Sky provides backup immutability with the use of Veeam Backup & Replication v10 object lock functionality and Silicon Sky’s S3 compatible Cloud Object Storage. The object lock functionality prohibits deletion of data from object storage until the immutability expiration date is met. Immutability expiration is managed and defined by you in your Veeam Backup & Recovery console.
Adhere to Veeam’s data protection best practices ensuring data is protected from any type of threat including ransomware. Veeam best practice for data protection adheres to the 3-2-1-1 rule, 3 different copies of data , on 2 different media types, 1 copy is offsite and 1 copy is offline.
